Domestic Insurance claims can be distressing
Domestic claimants are often quite traumatised, particularly if the events that gave rise to the claim are violent or involve personal injury. A claimant who has been the victim of a violent assault and theft will be far more traumatised than one who returns home to find the family valuables stolen. Equally someone who has had to be rescued from a burning house at 3 am by the fire brigade will be far more fragile than if the house had suffered fire damage whilst they were away.
We take a sympathetic approach
We take all of this into account and adopt a sympathetic approach to claimants, particularly where they have suffered personally. By contrast, the Insurance Company is really only interested in getting the claim settled – and at least cost to them!
What about alternative accommodation?
Often a major claim will necessitate the occupants needing to relocate for 6 to 9 months – sometimes even longer, and great care needs to be exercised when negotiating for alternative accommodation. We are particularly concerned when the household includes very young or elderly people – or people with special needs. The alternative accommodation must be suitable for the occupants in every respect.
